Dayleit Lighting – LED Grow Lights

DayLeit LED Grow Lights

DayLeit’s newest upgrade to the usual “fixed” wavelength of LED grow light (either blue or red) now comprises the ability to variably control the spectrum of light. We have combined four (4) bandwidth’s red, orange-yellow, blue and violet to most naturally simulate Sun Light without the wasted green bandwidth that is almost all reflected by plants’ green leaves. There is no harmful UV or heat generated. DayLeit’s expert engineers selected the colors of light and their respective ratios in the lamp design to maximize the absorption of light by all chemicals involved in photosynthesis (chlorophyll A, chlorophyll B, and carotenoids).

Variably Adjusting the Band Width

Because different plants are different in color and chemical make-up, they all absorb slightly different quantities of light at the wavelengths incorporated into our design. By using the two selector switches provided on the unit, optimum photosynthetic activity for an individual plant can be achieved by tuning the light spectrum using the control dials to move through the colors of the rainbow. Dimming for gradual “waking up” of plants can also be achieved through this mechanism. At DayLeit, we strongly advocate constant further experimentation to fuel progress: if you find a perfect spectrum/ratio you would like produced in large quantity for a particular type of plant, we will be happy to deliver your OEM product.

The violet and orange bands are not addressed in other products on the market. The violet band corresponds to a region of light in which plants have almost 100% absorption (the opposite on the color wheel from green is violet; as such, all of this light can be absorbed by the plant and used for photosynthesis). The orange-yellow band helps stimulate healthy growth of flowering plants and simulates Spring-time lighting conditions, resulting in more efficient photosynthetic process overall.

Other Factors
Heat and UV are killers for most plants. Metal Halide lamps last 16,000 hours but have to be replaced after 4,000 hours because of their rapid lumen depreciation. Our LED product will last 100,000 hours but the recommended replacement is 50,000 hours, because of lumen depreciation. That’s more than 12 times the life of traditional grow lamps. There are eight cooling fans built into the unit and it is supported by four supplied 12” aircraft cable drop links. Our standard manufactured product is 120 volt, although we can build it in 220 volt and 277 volt if specified.
The lamp is instant on. Duty cycling of the LED’s, turning them on and off multiple times, does not affect life expectancy or efficiency.
